Thai Yoga Massage or Nuad Phaen Boran

The theoretical foundation of Thai massage is based on the concept of invisible energy lines running though the body. This ancient massage can look back at a long history of therapeutic healing with its evolution of the techniques of this healing-massage to traced back its earlier roots in India. The legendary founder of the art is believed to have been a doctor from Northern India. The Indian origin and influence are obvious in the above image since the background of this theory lies in the Yoga Philosophy. The human body is considered to be existing and fulfilled by a vital force called Prana which carries out various physiological functions absorbed by the air we breathe and with the food we eat. This Pranashakti is responsible for the various functions being carried out within the body. Along a network of energy lines, the Prana nadis, are specific channels through which it moves and is when the human body is being supplied with this vital energy. These energy lines are invisible and cannot be verified anatomically. They form as sort of the 'second skin', a second body in addition to the physical body. In yogic philosophy the term used for this is Kosha, which literally means the cocoon or the sheath.
